Eternity Is Real
Romans 8:38–39 (nlt)
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life... indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 14:2–3 (nlt)
2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.
2 Corinthians 5:1–7 (nlt)
1 For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. 2 We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. 3 For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. 4 While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh... we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. 5 God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit. 6 So we are always confident... 7 For we live by believing and not by seeing.
2 Corinthians 4:16–18 (nlt)
16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day... 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
Lord God, it’s incredible what you have done for us, what you have prepared for us. Nothing can ever separate us from your great love, that indescribable love revealed in what you’ve done for us Jesus.
When we were afraid, you gave us assurance that you were preparing a heavenly home for us. You assured us that your life, death, and resurrection were preparing that home for us, and at your great expense. After paying such an immeasurable price for us, surely, when it’s time, you will come and usher us into the eternal home you have made for us through your sacrifice.
We know Lord, that when this earthly tent is taken down, we will have a real eternal dwelling place waiting for us, and an eternal body made by you, a glorious body, a real body. In this current body, we groan and sigh, but there is a day coming when these groaning bodies will be swallowed up by life. You have prepared us for this by your sacrifice for us and guaranteed it by your Spirit. So we are confident Lord. We are more sure of the things we believe than the things we can see. We walk by faith and not by sight.
That is why we never lose heart Lord; we never give up. These bodies are dying every day, but our spirit is being made stronger every day. Lord Jesus, help us to not look at the troubles we see now, help us to fix our gaze on the things that can’t be seen. Help us to fix our gaze on eternity, because eternity is more real than the temporary troubles of this life. These troubles are passing away, but eternity is forever. Our lives in these bodies are temporary and fleeting, but our eternal life is forever. Help us Lord, remind us to be always living for eternity, because that is our real life. Thank you Jesus, for making a way for us to have real life, eternal life. And thank you for making heaven so sure and so real. In your Name, amen.
