Restore One Another
James 5:19–20 (niv) — 19 My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.
Galatians 6:1–2 (niv) — 1 Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Heavenly Father, we are so prone to wandering. We are self directed by nature, and easily drawn into sin. Thank you Lord, that you have made us part of your body. Thank you that there are others watching out for us, and we are watching out for them. Help us Lord, to carry one another's burdens. Give us eyes to see, and a heart that cares enough to speak. Make us brokenhearted about sin in our lives and in the life of the church, and give us the courage to be used by you for good when sin is creeping in.
When we see a brother or sister heading down that destructive sin path, may we be convicted to try to pull them back to safety. And help us to restore them gently Lord, with humility and in love, without being judgmental. Show us first how prone to the same sin we are, Lord. And make us sober minded regarding the danger of us falling in while we're trying to pull them out.
Use us Lord, in each other's lives, to help one another follow you until the end. And in this way we will fulfill your law; of loving you first, and loving those you've put around us.
Give us courage Lord, to be in the real battle for souls. Thank you for saving us in order to use us for eternal good. In your name we live and pray, amen.
